I don’t often post about fundraising because it’s my least favorite aspect of non-profit work. But every once in a while I come across a fundraising story that’s compelling enough to share. This one means a lot to me personally because it involves The Refuge, where my family and I go to church.
Having experienced a variety of church building campaigns in the past, I can say that ours is pretty unique. We’re not building a new building. We don’t own land. Instead, we’re hoping to rent a 7,000-square-foot, ground-floor space located between the local Habitat ReStore and the largest food pantry serving Broomfield and Boulder counties. So this new space is in a strategic location for our welcoming mission center and Christian community here in Broomfield. In order to move in, however, we need to raise $42,000 for our first year’s rent.
