Ever wanted to help change the world but have no idea where to start?
Ever felt overwhelmed by the many “needs” out there?
Ever tried to help but realized doing it in that particular way just wasn’t you?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above, this tool is for you!
GO EPIC is a three-part discernment process for individuals, families, small groups and faith communities. Here’s what it entails:
Part I, “Take a personal inventory” — This section helps you answer the question, “Who am I and how do I want to help?” You can’t effectively write yourself into a particular story of need until you reflect on your own story and consider your true vocation.
Part II, “Create an action plan” — Now it’s time to ask, “Where do I start? What needs to be done? What’s already being done? Who can I partner with?” Whether you identify a group of people you want to help, a problem you want to tackle or a place you want to help revitalize, you need to learn as much about it as possible.
Part III, “Develop the disciplines” — Hopefully by this point you’re asking: “How do I develop the emotional and spiritual resources to stay in this story of need for the long haul?” The trinity of practices detailed here will certainly help.
